Sizing & Fit Guide
Find Your Best Fit
At S&E Retail Expo, we want you to feel confident in your purchase. Our collections feature different brands and styles, each with its own sizing and fit.
Sizing & Fit Disclaimer
Sizing and fit may vary by brand, style, fabric, and cut. A size medium in one brand may fit differently from a medium in another. Size labels such as Small, Medium, and Large should not be assumed to represent identical measurements across all items.
Before purchasing, please review the product description, any sizing notes, and the item’s size chart when provided. Product-specific sizing information takes priority over general guidance on this page.
If measurements are not provided or you are unsure about the fit, please contact us at customerservice@shopretailexpo.com for assistance before placing your order. We are happy to help with available measurements and sizing information.
How to Measure
Use a flexible measuring tape over lightweight clothing or undergarments. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug without pulling it tight.
| Measurement | How to Measure |
|---|---|
| Bust | Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back. |
| Waist | Measure around your natural waist, usually the narrowest part of your torso. Stand relaxed without holding your breath. |
| Hips | With your feet together, measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat. |
| Inseam | Measure along the inner leg from the crotch to your desired hem, or measure the inseam of pants that fit you well. |
Understanding Measurements & Fit
- Body versus garment measurements: A body size chart refers to your measurements. Garment measurements describe the clothing itself and may include extra room for movement. Check which type is provided before comparing.
- Flat measurements: A measurement taken straight across a garment is not its full circumference. For example, a flat underarm-to-underarm measurement is approximately half the garment’s bust circumference.
- Fabric and stretch: Stretch, lining, and garment construction can affect fit. Review the listing’s fabric and stretch details when available.
- Between sizes: The best choice depends on the item’s cut, stretch, and your preferred fit. Please contact us for guidance rather than automatically choosing your usual size.
Fabric & Stretch Guide
Wondering how much give a fabric may have? Use this guide as a general reference when shopping. Actual stretch depends on the fabric’s construction, blend, lining, and garment design.
| Material / Fabric Type | Typical Stretch | What to Expect |
|---|---|---|
| Cotton — woven | Little to none | Usually has limited give unless blended with a stretch fiber. |
| Cotton — jersey or rib knit | Some to substantial | Knit construction allows give, even without spandex. How well it returns to shape varies. |
| Linen — woven | Little to none | May soften or relax with wear, but generally does not stretch like an elastic fabric. |
| Polyester — woven | Usually little to none | Polyester alone does not guarantee stretch. Certain constructions provide give; check the listing. |
| Polyester — knit | Varies; often some stretch | Knit structure can provide give. Spandex blends often add elasticity. |
| Rayon / Viscose / Modal | Low when woven; variable when knit | Softness and flow do not necessarily mean stretch. Knit versions typically offer more give than woven versions. |
| Silk, satin, or chiffon — woven | Usually little to none | A silky or flowing feel does not guarantee stretch. Stretch versions may contain elastane. |
| Denim — rigid / non-stretch | Little to none | May relax with wear but offers limited elastic give. |
| Denim — stretch blend | Some to substantial | Designed with added give. Stretch and shape retention vary by blend and construction. |
| Nylon / Polyamide | Varies widely | Woven styles may have little give. Knits and elastane blends, often used in activewear, can be very stretchy. |
| Wool / Acrylic sweater knits | Some to substantial | Give depends on the knit pattern and density. Avoid overstretching, which may change the garment’s shape. |
| Lace / Mesh / Crochet | Varies widely | Some versions are firm; others stretch considerably. Open texture alone does not indicate stretch. |
| Spandex / Elastane blends | Usually added stretch | Spandex and elastane are names for the same stretch fiber. The percentage alone does not tell you exactly how far a garment stretches or how it will fit. |
Before Choosing Your Size
- Check the individual listing: Product-specific stretch notes take priority over this general guide.
- Allow room in non-stretch styles: Your garment needs enough space for comfortable movement. Do not assume garment measurements should exactly match your body.
- Consider lining and details: A non-stretch lining, waistband, embroidery, or trim may limit give, even when the outer fabric stretches.
- Stretch does not automatically mean size down: Choose using the item’s measurements, sizing guidance, and intended fit.
This chart is general guidance, not a guarantee of an individual garment’s stretch or fit. If you are unsure, contact customerservice@shopretailexpo.com before purchasing for available product-specific information.
